New Baby

When we put Bear down last year, we had a hole in our hearts.  We kept telling ourselves it would be best to wait before getting another dog.
But these babies missed having a pup.  I missed having a pup.  Jeff missed having a buddy.  And a random trip to the humane society yesterday lead us to Mack.

He's all we said we wouldn't do again.  We weren't going to get as big of a dog and we were going to get a female.
But fate intervened and our hearts couldn't resist.

He's a lab mix, but boy, he sure looks like Bear.
These choppers are finding all kinds of shoes and toys already.
It's a huge commitment again, but we're happy.

Welcome home Mack.

In Celebration of Auntie Sara's Birthday

It's my sister's birthday this week so to celebrate we visited Quarry Hill Nature Center.  They have a new dinosaur exhibit.
They had a archaeology dig for small kids with lots of fun things to uncover like these baby shark teeth which Blaine loved.

The nature center also has lots of creepy crawly things like this hairy tarantula thing.
And lots of fun turtles!

We had a quick snack of grandma's homemade cookies before going on a hike.

Almost Spring

It was 55 in Minnesota today.  It was glorious.  Warm weather + longer days = playing outside after school and work.

We have a little hill in our back yard.  We have made the most of it these last couple of days.

That ended well.  The cross is where our pup is buried.  He would have been in his glory today.
We also broke out the bikes.
A huge amount of water pools in the driveway whenever snow melts or we have a large rainfall.  It's a small wading pool and totally fun (if you're not the parent who has to wash all the clothes after the fun).

Disney On Ice

The big girls and I went to see Disney On Ice on Saturday.  Sara donned her best princess gear.
Laura picked up a crown with her cotton candy.
First up - Princess and the Frog
 Princess Tiana

Then the story of Cinderella.
And the highlight - Tangled!

The show ended with all the Princesses and their significant others under the lantern sky. In all, a great show!  And by the time they crawled into bet at 10 (2 hours past bed time), they were tired.
Self portrait!
